This study examined student athletes with back pain. Pain was attributed to spondylolysis (i.e., stress fractures of small joint-bones in the spine), disc problems, lumbosacral strain of muscle-tendon units, and to lordotic or mechanical causes. Some are attributable to acute injuries. But many are attributable to overuse injuries from cumulative microtrauma to involved tissues . . .
