Healthy Lifestyle Campaign

Health and Humans Services launched an education campaign that is aligned with recent findings that obesity, poor diet and physical inactivity contributed to 17% of deaths in the US in 2000.  Information about this campaign, Healthy Lifestyles and Disease Prevention, is at www.smallstep.gov. The key message is that families can take small steps – not drastic changes – to achieve weight control and improve overall health.  The campaign website includes specific tips for eating and increasing activity as well as links to other resources.

Comment:  This is a user-friendly website you can recommend to health education classes (the “success story” reading level is high). You might use the 100 Tips in your health calendar and challenge students to create 265 more! -- J.O.
