Preventing Food-borne Illness in Schools

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Coalition for Food-Safe Schools developed an Action Guide to help schools identify gaps in food safety and to develop an action plan for becoming “food-safe.” It includes specific recommendations on the roles individual school staff and community members play in preventing food-borne illness.  The current materials include Creating Food-Safe Schools: A How-To Guide, team member Action Sheets, a flyer for school administrators, a needs assessment and planning guide, and a slide presentation with script.  Check the website: www.foodsafeschools.org.
